Associate Attorney

When you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have to speak up. You have to say something; you have to do something.

Biography

Early Life & Education

Tyler is from the firm’s principal city of Dallas, Texas and graduated from Richardson High School. Upon graduating he enrolled at Texas Tech University where he was active in extracurriculars like the Student Government Association. Here he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.

Legal Training

While completing his degree at Texas Tech University, he was awarded a full academic scholarship to attend the University of Iowa, where he received his Juris Doctor. He has always been inspired by his grandfather, uncle, and aunt, who were attorneys. They taught him the importance of using his voice to advocate for those who cannot do it themselves. As a result, Tyler developed a strong passion for helping others and being of service to those in need.

During law school, he participated in trial and appellate advocacy coursework and the Black law student association. He gained hands on experience holding internships with Judge Raquel Jones, working for the Financial Regulatory Authority, and the Dallas County District Attorney's Office.

Career at Smith Clinesmith

Tyler began his career at Smith Clinesmith post-graduation from the University of Iowa. After taking a hiatus to study for and take the Texas Bar Exam, he returned to the Firm to serve as the Pre-Litigation Coordinator while awaiting his results. Throughout this time his main duties included drafting corporate memos, notice of claims, and affidavit of merits, assisting with client intakes, and conducting research for cases. His recent passing of the Texas Bar has allowed him to move into an Associate Attorney position in our Litigation department, where he can be at the forefront of the fight against nursing home abuse. He is eager to help individuals and families across the country receive the justice they deserve through transparency and integrity.
